Homes Tour

You spruce them up
primping, polishing, piling
things in their Sunday-best
places
We stroll through,
judge and jury, thinking we'd love
a loft bed, stone floor, claw-foot tub
like yours
Some rooms flirt
some whisper sweetly
some tempt us to run away
from home
At the end of the day
you sweep up and bundle our energies
bag them for pay-as-you-throw
reclaiming your homes
We dream of silver ceilings
imagine new sun rooms
and long for our own tidy shelves
of splendid collectibles

Snoring

I kind of like snoring
Unless it is too loud
I like snoring
Because it's loving and calm
And restful and peaceful
I can get a good night's sleep
When a man is snoring
Sweetly by my side
We are sleeping gently together
Barely touching but touching
Just the same
And he is snoring
By my side
And I am asleep
Dreaming of him snoring.
