Walk the Labyrinth on September 11Hyde Park United Methodist Church invites you to walk the Labyrinth from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, in the Fellowship Hall as an opportunity for healing the fears and wounds that last year's tragedy has come to symbolize for each and all of us. Throughout the day, counselors from the New Life Institute will be available to aid people in walking and to help them process, if needed. Walking the labyrinth is a way to pray and meditate. In walking the labyrinth in prayer, we seek to know God's presence in our lives. At 7 p.m., HPUMC will host a Healing Service in the sanctuary. It will be a candlelight service that includes the celebration of the LordŐs Supper and will be welcoming of any and all, regardless of their church affiliations. For more information, please call Hyde Park United Methodist Church at 453-4206. The church is located 4001 Speedway. August Meeting ...cont'd from page 3 an amount of $550.00. This would match the funds raised by the Volunteer Program from their Homes Tour raffle of a night at the Strickland Arms Bed & Breakfast on East 47th. A substitute motion was made by Co-President Penn proposing an amount of $1,285.00. This amount reflected a flat percentage of the proceeds from the tour. The second motion did not pass, and the amount dispersed will be $550.00. Election season in Texas is upon us. Not to be outdone, it is time for neighbors to select officers for the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association. Co-President Breeze appointed a committee to prepare a slate of officers to be placed before the general membership during its September meeting. Anyone interested in volunteering, or impressing a neighbor into service, is urged to contact a member of the nominating committee. Look for their names in this issue of the Pecan Press. Co-President Breeze adjourned the meeting on time and neighbors headed out into the late summer evening.
