Twombly grew up in central Austin and has lived in Hyde Park for the past 12 years. His kids attend Robert E. Lee Elementary, where he also attended first through sixth grade. He enjoys the atmosphere of older neighborhoods and communities and is partial to the older, original homes that make up Hyde Park. "Houses like this were just built better," says Twombly, "built to last." And that is exactly what Lucien, Stirling & Gray plans to do. With experienced leaders at the helm and an enthusiastic and caring professional staff, the firm stands poised for success in the face of a tumultuous industry.

AFD will honor the Sept. 11 anniversary the weekend prior to that date in the Hyde Park neighborhood. On Saturday, Sept. 7, the AFD 9/11 Commemoration With Boy Scout Troop 399 will be held at Station 9 (4301 Speedway). Troop 399 has raised money for an in-ground flagpole to be installed at the station; AFD and the scouts worked together last fall to install flags at all AFD stations. A new flag will be raised in the ceremony and the AFD Honor Guard and bagpipers will participate. The Sons of the American Revolution will recognize to the ten AFD members who went to Ground Zero with Texas Task Force I last September. Congressman Lloyd Doggett is expected to attend and will recognize AFD for receiving a $72,625 grant from FEMA. Refreshments also will be served. The event is open to the public.
