September Meeting

plans appeared somewhat hastily put together. In fact, the city reviewed the plans and asked the church to submit some changes and put a finer point on some things. The church did not do so; rather they asked for, and were granted, an extension. With the extension, the plans might survive on as a claim to development rights outside of the existing NCCD.

Without the extension, and without the submission of the requested changes to the city, the site plans will fail to preserve any exceptions to the NCCD and any future development will be required to take place within approved guidelines. The Hyde Park Neighborhood Association is appealing the decision to grant the extension. The hearing is scheduled for September 25th. (See the Co-President's article on page 2 for what happened late that night.)

A motion was made by Secretary Coleman authorizing the Co-Presidents to write a letter to city requesting that the city take meaningful action, and keep HPNA informed of that action, regarding its filing against an owner of a house on Ave H. The city and nearby residents maintain that the house was expanded under false pretenses. An agreement struck regarding the amount of impervious cover to be allowed was ignored by that owner, and neighbors are now complaining of sudden problems with flooding the area. The motion passed unanimously.

An informal discussion cheerfully emerged about whether or not Hyde Park would sign up as a "No Parking in the Yard" neighborhood, and then devolved rapidly into a discussion about lot sizes and is there anything left that the city has not set a precedent for ignoring. A good time was had by all.

The time seemed right to remind the membership that the Fire Station Festival is just around the corner. See more in this issue of the Pecan Press.

Co-President Penn adjourned the meeting, and neighbors dispersed into one of the year's last summer evenings.
