Elisabet Ney Museum - Sunday, December 8, 2-4pm
Elisabet Ney loved children, having had two sons of her
own. While in Austin, she frequently entertained the children of her
friends with dressup parties and viewings of the Fourth of July
fireworks from atop her studio roof in Hyde Park.
In keeping with this tradition and the spirit of
Christmas, the Elisabet Ney Museum invites children of Hyde Park to
make stockings again this season to be hung from Elisabet Ney's
fireplaces in hopes that St. Nicolas will fill them with treats on
Christmas Eve. The museum will reopen for regular hours beginning
December 26 if children want to collect their stockings and the
surprises left for them. Stocking making day will be Sunday, December
8, from 2 to 4 pm. All materials will be provided by the museum. If you
would like to attend, please call the museum by Friday, December 6, at
458-2255. Happy Holidays from the Elisabet Ney Museum.

approving renovations to a historic house in the 4100 block of Ave. F.
On behalf of neighbor Don Balsamo, Co-President Gary Penn
gave an update on negotiations with the City to help area residents with
the maintenance of the alleys.
Existing sanctions against absentee or negligent landlords
arise out of the municipal courts and have historically been too tepid
to compel the unwilling. While no legal solutions are in sight, the
City has agreed to assist HPNA with an educational campaign to stress
to homeowners the importance of keeping the alleys serviceable and free
of detritus.
A long awaited draft revising the Association's bylaws
was circulated. They are scheduled to be approved in January. Input on
the details is welcome and anyone wishing of a copy of the draft is
urged to contact Bruce or Gary.
The Association traditionally donates a portion of its
annual revenues to the Hyde Park Methodist Church out of gratitude for
the use of it's building. This excellent facility has been an enormous
asset not just to HPNA, but to the community at large. Whether as a
place to vote, to worship or to
