HPNA November Meeting
...cont'd from page 1
take in some great live music, the people of the Methodist Church seem
always willing to place the use of their hall where it will do the most
good for the area. A motion was passed releasing a sum of $1,200 to the
church for the year 2002 and authorizing the HPNA Steering Committee to
revisit the 2001 donation with an eye towards possibly releasing still
more funds.
Former HPNA president Jack Evins asked the membership for
a blessing of his plan to restore he and his wife's home by moving the
"bay window" from the front where it had been tacked on in the dim past
and put it on another part of the house AND to bless raising the roof
line to greatly increase the useable floor area upstairs. This would allow
the useable square footage from 1000+ to 2000+. We gave it our blessing.
This was the first meeting chaired by newly elected
Co-President Bruce Nadig. Before adjourning, Bruce opened the floor up to a
general discussion about the direction of HPNA, and the members' concerns
and expectations for the upcoming year. Suggestions were numerous, but the
constant theme was the need for new faces. Ideas for events centering
around families and children included an Easter egg hunt, a Christmas Party,
weekend socials, and maybe even moving the times of the meeting so that
younger families could attend. We need outreach; we need new friends and
new ideas. There are hundreds of people, owners and tenants living in Hyde
Park and living here for good reasons. Some of them even took the time to
read all the way to end of this article but have never attended a single
meeting. Are your ears burning out there? MONDAY AT SEVEN!
