Yard Parking on February Agenda
The issue of yard parking and Hyde Park's participation in the city's
yard parking ordinance will be discussed at the February general
meeting. The meeting will take place on Monday, February 3, 2003 at
Hyde Park United Methodist Church. Anyone who would like to voice
his/her opinion on the subject is strongly urged to attend.

HPNA December Meeting
such as the one above, residents with plans to build or renovate are
reminded to approach the HPNA Steering Committee first, before taking their
plans to the general membership.Bob Breeze brought highly detailed drawings of the work he is proposing to his garage for all to see. He is the last one to be allowed to present in this fashion after due to the new rule mentioned above.
HPNA By-Laws are now posted on the website and will be voted on at the January 6th meeting. Input is welcome by all.
Former HPNA president Jack Evins was back to us
following up on his appearance last month. He said he found quite a few
ancient documents relating to HPNA and offered them to anyone willing to
take them.
Recently, the Hyde Park Baptist Church requested a demolition
permit for the building it owns located at 3810 Speedway. The HPNA Planning
Team holds that this violates the 1990 agreement reached with the church
regarding historic structures. The association passed a motion opposing the
request and asking the Austin City Council to uphold the 1990 agreement
and support historic zoning for this structure.
On a more positive note, planning for the next Homes Tour has
already begun. Anyone with questions about opening one's home or
volunteering for the event is asked to contact HPNA Co-President Gary Penn.
Many neighbors lingered for some holiday catching up
after Bruce Nadig adjourned the meeting.
