HPNA January Meeting ...cont'd from page 1
The issue of late night basketball playing at Shipe Park was mentioned. Apparently some folks have been playing basketball loud and long in the park. Bruce Nadig said that he would address this situation with Officer Brent Dupre, Hyde Park's APD District Representative. It was pointed out that Shipe Park officially closes at 10:00pm. Co-President Nadig also brought up a frightening crime story. In November and December there were reports of a man entering the apartments of women. This happened in Hyde Park as well as some other neighborhoods. The man always entered through an unlocked door. When discovered, the man would make up an excuse as to why he was in the residence. There are two shocking things that stand out here. First, people in our area are leaving their doors unlocked, thus allowing strangers to easily enter their property. Second, upon discovering the man many residents did not report the incident to the police. In the interest of safety and security, everyone was reminded that they must take basic steps to be responsible for their own safety.
