About the Fest
It's our tenth anniversary, and FronteraFest is now the oldest and largest theatre festival in the Southwest! Whether it's the Short Fringe, the Long Fringe, Mi Casa Es Su Teatro or Bring Your Own Venue -- FronteraFest is 5 weeks of new, alternative, offbeat, and just plain off-the-wall fringe theatre.
Featuring over 800 performers from all over Austin, the State of Texas, and the United States, and encompassing almost 100 original works -- FronteraFest is viewed annually by over 6,000 audience members and is growing in attendance every year! Presented by Hyde Park Theatre and Austin Script Works, the festival runs in multiple venues around town for 5 weeks from January 14th through February 15th.
Join the party and help us celebrate over 10 years of original, thought--provoking, and completely unexpected performance!
The schedule is extensive and varied. Call or visit the website for details. For reservations, call 479-PLAY. For a complete listing of performers, show times and locations, visit Hyde Park Theatre at www.hydeparktheatre.org>.

About Hyde Park Theatre
Hyde Park Theatre develops writers, designers, directors, and actors from within the Austin community, while at the same time producing works by exciting new and established voices of the alternative theatre scene. We work with a broad and diverse base of local artists to produce theater that confronts, challenges, and entertains. We have a strong commitment to paying local writers, actors, and designers a decent wage for their work, and to expanding the base of working artists in Austin. We hope to diversify and expand the audience for theater in Austin, making theater accessible

and essential across lines of income, class, race, gender, and sexual preference.

Our goals include:

  • Producing Southwest and world premieres of the best of the world's new alternative theatre, as well as those classic works of alternative theater that still have the power to challenge modern audiences.
  • To add to the canon of American theatre by creating, developing, and producing new plays by local and national writers.
About Austin Script Works
Both a playwright--driven service organization and a theatrical producing company, Austin Script Works was founded to:
  • Create a home for dramatic writers that stimulates imagination.
  • Develop new dramatic works to their fullest potential and feed them into the local and national markets.
  • Produce and encourage the production of new work that lends dignity to the playwright's vision Network and enhance the visibility of the diverse community of playwrights in the Central Texas area.
Austin Script Works exists to support dramatic writers by providing opportunities at all stages in the writing process -- from inception through production. ASW supports the whole writer, not just an isolated project, and dedicates itself to career advancement as well as artistic growth. Committed to high artistic standards, ASW seeks to protect the writer's integrity by encouraging playwright initiative and harnessing collective potential.

Funded in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts and the City of Austin under the auspices of the Austin Arts Commission.
