The Creatures Within

She screams from joy, from laughter
She screams from fear
She screams from my love for her
She attacks me with her claws
His saliva's always flowing
His walk is that of a gorilla
His body is a twig, easily snapped
His dancing heart is always rocking

These are the creatures we turn away from
These are the creatures we glare at in disgust
But if you look a little closer
You may see what I see

They are brother and sister
His cumbersome body does not outweigh his joy
Her awkward whale figure does not outweigh her love
His laughter makes me laugh
Her kisses are her subconscious understanding
His anger fills him and spills onto me
Her stubbornness graces me with the need of tequila

These are the creatures we turn away from
These are the creatures we glare at in disgust
But if you fix your eyes on them in a different light
You may see a glow

His feelings are unknown
His hurts, his delights aren't available
His chair is arduous to push around
His efforts are confined inside an incapacitated body
He smiles at me, while I'm feeding him
I smile at him, wanting happiness for him

These are the creatures we should not turn away from
These are the creatures we should notice
These unusual creatures are our reminders
Look at the glow and smile to yourself
