Water Saving Tips
Make sure your home is leak free. Check your water meter a few hours before and after a span of time when you are certain that no water is being used. If the meter reading has changed, locate that leak and get it fixed. Locate your master water shut-off valve while you're checking the meter. In the event that you do have a pipe burst, you can shut it off quickly to avoid flooding.

Repair leaky faucets. Most only need new washers, and one drop per second wastes 2,700 gallons per year.

Operate automatic dishwashers and clothes washers only when they are full. When you cannot fully load the appliance, be sure to set the water level for the size of the load you are using.

Do not use running water to thaw meat or other frozen foods. Defrost food overnight in the refrigerator, or use the defrost setting on your microwave.

Compost. Kitchen sink disposals require a lot of water to operate properly, so start a compost pile as an alternative method of disposing of at least some of your family's food waste.

Don't let water run while shaving or washing your face. Brush your teeth first while waiting for the water to get hot, then wash or shave after filling the basin.
