Leprechaun icon Adventures of Irish Leprechauns
A Whimsical Prose Offering by Josephine Casey
A youngish leprechaun, curious, peeped out from his snug little mushroom house and broke off a bite before he could say "supercalifragilisticexialidocious" (which is a mouthful even for older leprechauns let alone the youngsters). That bite (not byte) called for another and soon Mr. L was nibbling at the tasty roof and wondering what other goodies were as easy to get.

Just then Leprechaun No. 2 appeared and suggested exploring the nearby forest for more mushroom varieties. The search was successful and the two "Lepies" feasted, not forgetting their original mushroom home.
They ate and they ate till evening came on. They knew they had better go home, so off they wandered slow but sure and into bed they tumbled. "Goodnight," they wished each other, "Goodnight and happy hours be yours." One last yawn and an Irish lullaby closed the sleepy eyelids.
Next morning dawned so bright and clear, the L's were delighted. They quickly pulled on their best green velvet suits and their turned-up-toed slippers, all with gold trimming which sparkled in the sunshine and was the very latest in leprechaun fashions.
After another nibble at their mushroom roof, off they hopped, skipped and jumped to explore a nearby meadow. Lo and behold it was playtime for school children and the L's had to avoid being stepped on. You see, the L's were invisible to mere humans. But each in his way had a merry time until the bell rang out. "Poof," children vanished. The L's had gotten so tired, they yawned and called it a day. And so shall I.
    Too-ra-loora, loora, Too-ra-loora-li,
    'Tis an Irish Lullaby.
    Goodnight!
