Summer Evenings
sweat beads are fresh on my face
as i step out into the street
i explore this lovely place
in hopes to watch the sun retreat

my ears listen to each summer sound
insects and bird calls fill the air
people and pets venture around
interesting sights can be seen anywhere

some sidewalks are chalked with vivid designs
gardens grow and reach for the light
women sit on a porch tasting fine wines
as the day slowly fades to night

the trees hang and shade and sway
the sunset's brilliant colors leave the scene
all of the children come home from play
the streets grow more still and serene

the neighborhood thrives in the summer nights
the heat subsides and tranquility you can find
as the houses begin to turn out their lights
take a stroll and let the evening help you unwind.
