Adventures in India...

Looking down into the Gunung Bromo Crater     After that awesome sight, everything else was anticlimactic. I descended and we made our way back across the sea of sand and down the winding narrow roads, with sheer drop-offs, that brought us to the base of the Tengger crater, and I stumbled into my hotel about 10 am. The people at the front desk waved and smiled; they knew where I had been. I had breakfast and collapsed into bed.

A note to my Hyde Park readers:
By the time you read this article, I will be back in the United States. My plane leaves Bangalore in the early morning hours of September 28. I'll be returning to Dallas, not Austin, to be reemployed by i2 Technologies at its corporate headquarters in Dallas. I'll probably remain there for about a year before I finally make my way home to Avenue F. I'll be sending a few more articles to the Pecan Press, describing other aspects of my trip to Indonesia and some of my experiences in Thailand. It's been an interesting 21 months, but I am looking forward to returning to the United States and, as soon as possible, to Hyde Park. If anyone has questions about India or wants to get in touch, contact me at lweidlich@mail2sevenseas.com.
