Therefore I Am
No argument could dissuade you,
you comprehend your existence
demanding perfection in all things.
What dwells inside that twisting warren
you trust as truth.
You think yourself into existence,
think yourself a reality, a life,
think yourself better or worse
than the rest of us, human
or otherwise,
run yourself ragged until owls depart
the entrance of your burrow,
and then you gingerly step outside,
cartographer in an exotic land.
Greeted with a smile or shrug, you
measure the worth of life above ground.
No argument could dissuade you,
you comprehend our existence
grieving the lack of perfection,
and lost in the prismatic light of
our realities, you retreat.

September HPNA Meeting
...cont'd from page 13

On a personal note, pending October's elections, this will be my last recounting of the minutes of the HPNA monthly meetings. Prose from this pen will henceforth be titled, "From the (Co-) President's Desk", or, if you all behave, "The State of the Hood". I leave you in the capable hands of HPNA's new Secretary, Marrilee Ratcliff. My thanks, my truest thanks, to all of you who have made this position so much fun over the last two years. Don't miss the next exciting episode of The Hyde Park Neighborhood Association!
