November Meeting Minutes...
...cont'd from page 3

Guadalupe Street on the site of the old Ramsey Nursery has agreed to meet with the Hyde Park Planning Team to discuss shaping his project to meet the parameters of the emerging NCCD. Score one for the Planning Team.
Co-President Coleman urged neighbors to assist Karen in the completion of the NCCD, stating that "it will be great when we can get this thing approved by the City Council". He reminded neighbors that the NCCD for the south side is now available to all, a copy is on Karen's front porch and the thing is on the website. Anyone planning an expansion, demolition or permit is urged to contact a member of Development Review Committee before breaking ground, not after the fact.
Livable City Lives Up to Name: Brian Donovan Brian Donovan from Livable City gave neighbors a presentation about that organization. Liveable City is primarily an information gathering organization developed to allow citizens a voice in shaping the physical and fiscal aspects of Austin. Surveys such as the recent Envision Central Texas, or a possible upcoming Wal-Mart impact study are examples of this type of information gathering. The organization was founded to make the tools for advocacy more effective and to put better data in the hands of decision makers. Three of Liveable City's board members live here in Hyde Park. Anyone wishing to learn more is urged to contact Brian at 481-8400 or log on to www.liveablecity.org.
New HPNA Year: Suggestions, Anyone? Co-Presidents Coleman and Whittington then opened the floor for an informal discussion about what members of HPNA would like to see more of over the coming year. Coleman's own pick was for more children's services and a restructuring of some of the Committees to streamline the development review process. Karen McGraw and Pam Whittington agreed that we needed a Historical Preservation Committee. Traffic calming was a concern for neighbors along with the need for better sidewalks. Stay tuned for news about an open-air concert this Spring, and for Shipe Pool to be open a little longer this Summer.
Coleman announced that Grande Communications had located an alternate site for the location of their Hyde Park utility box. Neighbors had objected to the one on 43rd Street. An agreement is now in the works for the location final their utility box.
Coleman adjourned the meeting and reminded neighbors that the December 1st meeting will be a Christmas social. Everyone is invited, and food and snacks are welcome.
