Calling All Architects:
Development Review Committee Seeks Expertise of Local Architects and
Senior Builders
A
rchitects and senior builders are being sought to assist the
neighborhood by volunteering for Hyde Park's Development Review
Committee. The committee assists current and prospective neighbors
in evaluating possible redesign or expansion in the area. Hyde
Park owes much of its beauty and character to layers of zoning
that govern the size and shape of structures within its boundaries.
The primary design guideline is the area's "NCCD" -- Neighborhood
Conservation and Combining District. An NCCD is already in place
for the original Hyde Park subdivision between 38th and 45th, and
some developers north of 45th are already tailoring their site
plans to fit the new northern NCCD expected to be adopted by the
city early this spring.
Our goal is to provide assistance in interpreting the NCCD to
home owners, potential home buyers and developers seeking to
build or buy in Hyde Park. The Association offers these consultations
|
for free in the spirit of celebrating and preserving Hyde
Park's unique character. Consultations concerning historic
properties are also available. These meetings almost always
lead to a better understanding of the limitations and
opportunities that may accompany a change to a home or
lot in Hyde Park.
The Hyde Park Neighborhood Association is asking interested
architects and experienced builders to become familiar with
the NCCD and other zoning guidelines and serve as advisors
to those seeking guidance from the neighborhood. Working
together, we can help maintain the magic of one this city's
best places to live, while helping all concerned to manage
expectations and avoid costly red tape.
Local architects and builders, this would a great service
to your community. If you can, please contact Development
Review Chairman Stan Kozinsky at 451-4455.
Your time and talent will make a true difference for our
community.
