Greetings to Cousins and Friends at Christmas 2003
Dear Neighbors,
The spirit is willing but the fingers are weak, or rather, are
victims of arthritis, so individual notes may not be forthcoming.
Achy knees keep me awake some nights, but I grit my teeth and
finally have some fantastic dreams. Also compose some pretty
good rhymes, which don't always "stick" for daytime penning.
As of Dec. 7, RNC (Retirement and Nursing Center, on Burnet Rd.)
has been my home for six years. I consider the residents and staff
as my second family, and am fond of so many. I cannot speak highly
enough of my dear caregiver Barbara, who looks after so many aspects
of my needs. She is a jewel of the highest quality. I also sing the
praises of the nurses and aides and everyone who has added to my
well-being. I send up a prayer each morning, and all their names are in it.
I have participated in several Center's programs as a reader, and have
written a number of not-so-bad poems; also essays for the annual
Nursing Home Games each spring. (Won first place in poetry and prose.)
Also last year won the spelling competition.
Enough already. I love letters and/or cards. I hope physical problems
for all are decreasing, and health will be "up" in 2004. My good wishes
to you and your families. I think of each of you often. I give you my
love and my sincere Christmas wish. Feliz Navidad.
