Having a safe and crime free neighborhood starts with each of
the residents of our neighborhood. We each must take personal
responsibility for securing our valuables and not creating
opportunities for criminals. It is very surprising to hear
what is often stolen from people, and where those things are stolen from.
Valuables left in vehicles create opportunities for criminals.
Read through the questions below and decide for yourself if you
are doing everything you can do to your property:
Where is your car parked right now? Is it in your driveway (or
parking lot) or is it parked in the street? Is it parked in an area
that is isolated and obscured from view, or is it parked in an area
that is well lit and open for people to see?
Are your car's doors locked right now? If not, why? Do you value
your car and anything you might have inside it?
What items do you regularly leave in your car? Is there anything of
value that you regularly keep there?
What items are in your car right now? Did you leave a purse,
briefcase, or backpack? If so, what items are inside that purse
/briefcase /backpack? How much money would it take to replace
those items? How much time would it take to replace those items?
