west campus over the next fifty years.
Karen McGraw submitted a movement that passed unanimously for
a resolution to support the west campus rezoning effort.
Baptist Church Update: The saga continues with the Hyde Park Baptist Church parking garage. If you've been following the events, this started a while back, when HPBC submitted plans for their parking garage to Austin City Council. The Planning Commission approved the plans initially, but later City Council withdrew its approval after much debate and protest. HPBC sued City Council and won in court. City Council has appealed. The two remaining issues to determine in the appeals court are whether the city has a right to interpret its own ordinance, and to find an actual case among the facts against the court's ruling. The fate of the notorious parking garage and the "Save Hyde Park" battle cry, is yet to be decided. North Field Neighborhood: Alan Marburger submitted a motion that passed unanimously for a resolution to support the City staff recommendation of SF-5 for a rezoning project just across 51st street, next to the old state cemetery. North Field resident Lisa Hoffman attended the meeting and asked for our support in this matter, "Since 51st Street does affect residents of our neighborhood." Finally, speaking of Alan: Please continue to volunteer for the Hyde Park Homes Tour that is quickly approaching. There are a number of places that need to be filled, so contact Tour Chairperson Alan Marburger (459-2261, mcmararc@earthlink.net) to jump on the band wagon. See y'all next month, and bring your neighbor to the meeting with you!
