Just about anything of interest is ok, as long as it is
something that you would feel comfortable saying to your neighbors.
The agendas for the HPNA monthly meetings are posted to the group in
advance, so you can know what will be discussed.
Joining
To join the Hyde Park Austin discussion group:
- Go to
groups.yahoo.com/group/HydeParkAustin>
You will not see much since you are not a member yet.
- Click Join this Group
- If you must sign in to Yahoo!, enter your name and password. If you are
not a Yahoo! member then you can register with Yahoo! at this point.
- Fill out the membership request page. Most people can just leave all the
options in their default values. So all they have to do is:
- In the Word Verification section, enter the word in the box.
(note: this prevents programs from creating mailboxes automatically)
- Click Join
Posting
Sending a note is easy. Just send email to

HydeParkAustin@YahooGroups.com. You can also send enclosures in the
email. If you want, you can also post messages from the discussion group
home page.
Reading Messages
By default email messages sent to the group are
distributed to everybody in the group. The message subject always begins
with [HydePark] so that you can filter messages into a special folder if
you want to.
You can also view the all messages via the web at the
discussion group home page. This is useful if you want to look at old
messages or search for a specific message. Enclosures are delivered
with the email, but they are not available via the web.
With Yahoo groups you can choose where to have you
messages delivered, how frequently, and in what format.
All of these options are specified on the membership
preferences page at
groups.yahoo.com/group/HydeParkAustin/join. You can also get there by
the Edit My Memberships link in the upper right corner of the Yahoo! Groups.
You can have the mail delivered to any address. You don't
have to use Yahoo mail to participate in a Yahoo! group. I never read my
Yahoo mail! Just add another email address to your Yahoo! preferences and
have all messages sent there. To add a new email address, go to the
preferences page and click "add new email address".
