Plant Thief on the Prowl? Dear Neighbors, We may have a petty plant thief invading our Hyde Park neighborhood. Recently my prized clump of pink Ruella was removed from my flower bed. Just a reminder to keep an eye on your plants, whether in porch pots or hanging baskets, which occasionally have disappeared. -- Anonymous (Editor's Note: As a general rule we do not publish unsigned letters, but have made an exception in this case...) NeWorlDeli Earns Kudos Dear Editor, Pecan Press- Please say a few words in your neighborhood paper about Greg Bontempo and his colleagues at NeWorlDeli. He donated all the food for our volunteers and many of the participants at this year's "LIFE" project. It is his type of willingness to help in whatever way he can that made our project so successful. I attached a photo of me presenting a certificate of appreciation to Greg yesterday. The really great thing is not just that we provided these services at no charge to the Prevent Blindness Clients but that we may have saved fourteen people from eventually losing their sight. If they had not come in, they would have eventually gone blind in most cases. That is the reason why all of our volunteers came in from all around the state to participate in this clinic. We had two Ophthalmologists, five Dual Registered Opticians who performed all the refractions, eight spectacle Registered Dispensing Opticians fitting the glasses, and other volunteers who helped in various ways to keep everything flowing smoothly.
