Hyde Park Homes Tour 2004.. ...cont'd from page 1
There will also be a thirtieth anniversary exhibit at the Weisiger-White House at 4104 Avenue F. This exhibit will display the extraordinary efforts of neighbors over the last 30 years to protect and preserve the character of Hyde Park. Past presidents of HPNA will host this display of community pride. If this sounds like fun, it's only a part of the Historic Hyde Park Homes Tour. The main attractions are the seven beautiful homes that are on this year's tour. These homes, ranging in age from 116 years to one month old, are celebrating five generations of families in Hyde Park.

We start the tour with the Oatman/ Elliot House at 4214
Avenue C, owned by Maureen and Brendan O'Connor. This house,
built in 1923, anchors one end of a block described in the Hyde
Park Historic Walking Tour as the "Bungalow Block". This block has
a sidewalk system completed in harmony with the 1920's homes that line
this tree-shaded avenue.
Last year the newest house in the neighborhood was started by Paige and Jaime CCaras at 4214 Avenue D. Building a new house here was facilitated by one of the more interesting reatures of this property: except for the "carriage house" at the back of the lot, the Continued on page 9
