Meeting Minutes: September 13, 2004

ydePark neighbors and
guests gathered on Monday, September 13, at the United
Methodist Church for the monthly meeting of the Hyde Park Neighborhood
Association. Co-President Glen Coleman called the meeting to order and
attendees introduced themselves. First on the agenda, representatives from
Capital Metro spoke. Sam Archer, a Hyde Park resident and Assistant
Director for Community Involvement and Project Manager, and Rob Smith,
Director of Strategic Planning, gave an informative presentation about Capital
Metro's "All Systems Go" Long-Range Transit Plan.

30th Annual FIre Station Festival:
Sunday, October 17
C
ome one Come All to the Hyde Park Fire Station Festival! On Sunday,
October 17th, Kids and their Keepers are invited to celebrate 30 years of
successfully keeping our beloved little Fire Station # 9 in the neighborhood.
As is customary, the celebration will include a children's
parade, food and drinks, music, and lots of entertainment for kids and the
young at heart. The event will begin with kids and parents assembling in
Shipe Park at 1:30 p.m. on that very special Sunday to march in the parade.
As always, participants are encouraged to decorate bikes, trikes, strollers, and

anything else that rolls, and to bring along pets as well (as long as they're
well-behaved, and on a leash). Everyone is urged to dress in their most
festive outfits, and musical instruments and other noise making devices
are welcome. The parade route will commence around Ave G and 44th,
Park thank the Austin firefighters who have helped keep us safe for so
|
head south on Ave. G, turn west at 43d, and end at the Fire Station. Much
of the City leadership will be in attendance to celebrate and to help Hyde
many years. This event also marks the passing of the torch to new officers
in the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association. The Festival is the highlight of
HPNA's calendar year, so don't miss it, or your neighbors!
