NCCD Update... ...cont'd from page 1
Prior to this the Planning Team completed the required survey of every block of north Hyde Park. Many neigh- bors helped with this effort. Sam Waring has directed the effort to compile all of the survey information into a da- tabase. Notice of each Planning Team meeting has gone out to a list of about 60 neighbors. Those who have been very active in both the survey work and draft ordinance include Stan Kozinsky, Sam Waring, Doris Coward, Debbie Volker, Denise Girard, Pam Whittington, Mity Myhr and Larry Clay. Adoption of the North Hyde Park NCCD will complete the neighborhood planning process for Hyde Park. The Hyde Park Neighborhood Plan was adopted in 2000. The NCCD for south of 45th was adopted in 2002. (see website) This is a City of Austin sponsored zoning case. Please come to the meeting. Your input is needed and we will answer any questions. The Planning Team members as well as Glenn Rhoades, our City of Austin case manager, will be there to present the information and answer questions. This process will take several months, so there is time to discuss the ordinance and make revisions if needed. The NCCD "tool" is unique in that we can make regulations both more and less restrictive. Examples of this are that we are suggesting making the code more strict by disallowing front yard parking, but we are also making it less strict by allowing garage apartments to have a 5' rear setback instead of the current 10' rear setback. In late December the City will post the draft NCCD on its website. We will get a link up on the Hyde Park website as soon as possible. If you received a notice of the potential rezoning, you will also receive a notice of the public hearings once they are scheduled. If you want to be included in email notices for Planning Team meetings, send an email to me.
