Shortly after the start of the New Year, an Assault by Threat was reported in the 3900 block of Speedway. The 9 p.m. January 2nd disturbance means that someone intentionally or knowingly threatened another person with imminent bodily injury. Under the Texas Penal Code, this is also classified as a Class C Misdemeanor punishable by fine only.

  Two other domestic disturbances were reported at different residences on January 4th and 12th . The first involved a Dating Disturbance violation occurring in the 4400 block of Duval Street. The other is classified as a Family Disturbance. It took place at a home in the 5000 block of Avenue F. Both would be considered misdemeanor violations.

  As for break-ins, two homes and five vehicles were reported burglarized. Separate incidents were reported in the 4200 and 4400 blocks of Avenue C and another in the 4500 block of Avenue H. All vehicles that were broken into were located on parking lots. Three of these happened on Duval Street, while two came from the 39th Street area. Also, in mid-January a truck was broken into and burglarized, with its rear window shattered. Again, we caution neighbors NOT to leave things of value visible in their vehicles.

  Criminal Mischief and Theft continue to plague Hyde Park. Three incidents of Criminal Mischief were reported December 20th and January 12th and 15th. Incidents of Theft occurred throughout the neighborhood, with APD noting five separate violations.
