First stop on the 2005 Hyde Park Homes Tour, the Sears King House at 209 West 39th, home to Marie Carmel and Steve Wechsler.

Here at the center of the neighborhood is the Walter Badger House, an Austin Historic Landmark. This house was built in 1905 by the Missouri, Texas, and Kansas Land Company to promote the new Hyde Park Subdivision, and was bought by Walter and Bette Badger for $3,500. The current owners Susan Moffat and Nick Barbaro have graciously consented to have this fine home at 4112 Speedway on the tour.
The sixth home on the tour is a 1926 bungalow at 4112 Avenue D, currently being remodeled by Ann Hebert and Garland Turner. Sidewalks and front porches are what this home is about. We hope ev- eryone will enjoy the variety and the front porch friendliness we enjoy in Hyde Park and join us in June for an outstanding neighborhood event. Tell ev- eryone you see to come and volunteer if you can. You will be rewarded for your spirit. To volunteer, e-mail John Williams at jwilli@grande.net.
