as the Board of Adjustment. This resolution specifically requested continuing enforcement of a decision made by the Board of Adjustment on April 14, 2003 for the property at 701 East 46th Street. John received a letter from Mayor Wynn's office on February 18. The letter stated that a notice of violation had been issued to the property owner. It was further noted in discussions by attendees that possible zoning violations that are noticed around the neighborhood can be reported to the City of Austin Zoning Supervisor, Matthew Christianson, at 974-6470. Neighbor Marie Carmel then took the floor to report on a re-subdivision request that may be in the works for land at 39th and Avenue C. According to people working on the lot, the owner wants to subdivide the lot and put two duplexes on it. Marie called on the Neighborhood Association to oppose this subdivision because it will allow for violation of NCCD zoning. Several members present reported that City of Austin subdivision approval can be done without a public hearing, and the NCCD does not address subdivisions. The issue was turned over to the Development Review Committee to try to set a meeting with the property owner and interested neighbors. It was also suggested that the property owner be sent a letter reminding them of current duplex occupancy limits. Next, Hyde Park Planning Team Chairman Karen McGraw reported on the upcoming Planning Commission hearing for the North Hyde Park NCCD. The Planning Commission hearing is set (at the time of writing of these minutes) for March 22 at City Council chambers. The Planning Team will address any issues that arise at a public |
meeting March 24 at 7 pm at Trinity United Methodist
Church on 50th Street. HPNA members voted unanimously
(with one abstention) to support the North
Hyde Park NCCD dated February 17. The text of this
NCCD can be found on the HPNA website and the
City of Austin web site.
Finally, John Kerr reported on some further investigation he's done into the memorial benches that were discussed at the February meeting. He also reported that Albert Huffstickler has been added to the list of potential honorees. Then Alan Marburger gave a report on the progress of the Hyde Park 2005 Homes Tour committee. The theme of this year's tour is "Front Porch Friendly". The entire route will be connected with sidewalks, the carriage rides will be back and the rides will be free to all ticket-holders. There will be musicians, storytellers, and informational exhibits along the entire route of the Tour this year. Also, the April edition of "This Old House" will include an article about the Homes Tour -- it's been included in a list of the top 20 Historic Homes Tours in the US. There are still many volunteer opportunities, including lots of room for lots of docents. Everyone is encouraged to sign up -- this is the primary fundraising (and fun-raising!) activity of the neighborhood association every year. The meeting wrapped up after Alan's presentation. We'll see you in April!
