Crime Report...
...cont'd from page 8

Since the beginning of the year, burglary of vehicles has fluctuated from a low of five in February to last month's high of 12, and does not include two vehicles stolen in March. This month, the Austin Police Department (APD) lists seven separate break-ins. Of the seven vehicles burglarized, three occurred on Duval Street, one in the 3900 block and two in the 4500 block. Other areas hit were the 4800 block of Caswell Ave., 4500 block of Speedway and the 4600 block of Avenue C. Another incident on April 12 did not spec- ify an address, other than it occurred at a home at about 2 p.m.

Two residential burglaries and one nonresidential burglary were reported. Homes were vandalized in the 4700 block of Rowena Street at 9:30 p.m. and 5000 block of Avenue G at 5:30 p.m. The 4000 block of Duval St. reported the nonresidential burglary at about 3:30 p.m.

Items were also taken from five other locations. Residents reported bicycles stolen from the 300 block of 43rd Street and the 4300 block of Avenue H. Incidents of theft occurred in the 4300 block of Duval St., 4600 Avenue B and 5000 Avenue H.

On a more serious note, two separate assaults were reported. On April 2, at about 2 p.m. a peace officer was attacked in the parking lot of the 4700 block of Duval Street. Eight days later, an assault with injury on a family or dating violation occurred at a residence in the 4500 block of Avenue A. No further information was available on either incident.

Finally, a Peeping Tom was reported at a residence in the 4300 block of Duval St., a family disturbance in the 400 block of 39th Street, and someone was ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 4900 block of Duval St. And, believe it or not, only one incident of criminal mischief was reported. Thank goodness!
