W.Eugene George ...cont'd from page 10
In terms of historic preservation projects, among the most notable are: in Dallas, the Sixth Floor/School Book Depository, the Kennedy Assassination Museum; in El Paso, the restoration of the Magoffin House, a ca. 1870 adobe, for Texas Parks and Wildlife; and in Galveston, the Willis-Moody Mansion [1893], now a house museum. Gene also restored several ca.1850's buildings in Round Top for the Pioneer Arts Foundation. (Editor's note: In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. George is a richly decorated veteran of WW II, in which he served as a bomber pilot and was shot down over Germany. These exploits were described in a Pecan Press profile that appeared a number of years ago).
