treasures that make Hyde Park the special place it is.

Now begin the return trip. The fifth stop on the tour will be the Stone-Bohls-Ward House at 4309 Avenue F. The current owner, Steve Ward, has opened up the floor plan to create a spacious feeling, while restoring its exterior charm. This 1915 house has all the hallmarks of a Craftsman Bungalow: a low-pitched roof with exposed rafters, decorative joist extensions, triangular knee braces, a full length front porch, front and side gables and multiple wood columns. This all sits on a shingled and tapered base that merges with the earth while creating a pedestal for the house. Its new floor plan has created an open and spacious feeling.

The next stop on the tour is Walter Badger House at 42nd and Speedway, built in 1908 as a speculative house by the MKT Land Company. Owners Susan Moffat and Nick Barbaro have graciously opened their beautiful Colonial Revival house, with its two-tiered porch supported by Doric columns. Its foyer is dominated by a staircase that rises to the right and a beautifully carved stone fireplace on the left. Bay windows and high ceilings create a spacious, airy feeling, and the original woodwork is preserved throughout the house.
