  • assault by threat family/dating violation - a Class B, which carries a jail term of up to 90 days and a maximum fine of up to $1000,
  • assault with injury family dating violation - also classified as a Class A misdemeanor.
    The various assaults occurred in the following blocks: 4500 Speedway, 400 40th Street, 300 39th Street, 4200 Avenue G, 4400 Duval and 4000 Avenue A. This does not include the family disturbances that occurred at an unknown address and another in the 4800 block of Rowena St. Both were reported April 25.

    Burglaries and thefts also ranked high. Twelve vehicles were burglarized, 11 of which were parked in public areas. The 11 vehicle break-ins happened in the following blocks: 200 39th St., 4700 Eilers Ave., 4300 Duval St., 4500 Avenue H, 300 45th St., 4500 Duval St., 200 and 600 45h St., 4400 Avenue A, 500 49th St., and 4200 Speedway. In the 200 block of 39th St., a resident also reported a burglary of a vehicle. Officer Vargas predicts that many of the victims were students and expects for these numbers to decrease during the summer months.

    Four other burglaries occurred, including three residential break-ins. The following homes reported problems: 3800 block of Avenue G, 100 block of 45th Street and the 4400 block of Avenue D. On April 20, in the 500 block of 43rd St., a business suffered a similar fate.

    Thefts plagued seven separate locations. A car parked on the street was stolen from the 4800 block of Avenue G on May 8, while a bicycle was taken from a residence in the 400 block of 45th Street two days later. Thieves also removed a license plate from a vehicle parked in a garage in the 4500 block of Duval St. on May 14.

    Residents in the 700 block of 50th St., 3900 block of Avenue G and 4200 block of Avenue B also had things stolen. Thieves removed belongings from someone in the 400 block of 39th St.

    The remaining offenses include a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia occurring in the 100 block of 39th St., and four separate incidents of criminal mischief. These happened in the following blocks: 400 39th St., 4200 Avenue A, 300 41st St., and 4500 Duval St.

    Finally, police continue to look for an intruder who walks into homes looking for someone named Jessica. His last visit was May 3. A man found him sitting on his sofa at his residence located in the 4500 block of Duval St. The intruder asked for "Jessica" and then took off. He is described as being in his early 20s, about 5 ft. 7 in. tall, slender, and has short brown hair. Call 974-5000 to report this intruder.
