45th Street Utility and Reconstruction Project
The 45th Street Utility and Reconstruction Project between
Division Drive (west of MoPac) and Airport Boulevard will begin
this weekend, weather permitting. Traffic control will be installed
Saturday morning and work will start at Bull Creek and Clarkson.
45th and Bull Creek:
Water line work will start at Bull Creek and proceed west toward
Mopac. Work in the intersection will be performed on weekends
only between 7am and 7pm. During the intersection work, both
45th Street and Bull Creek will be reduced from four to two lanes.
The intersection will reopen to full service each Monday at 6am.
During the week, crews will work on installing the water line
between Bull Creek and Placid Place, between 9am to 4pm six/
seven days per week.
Once this relatively short run of water line is completed, street
construction will begin between Bull Creek and Division Street.
45th and Clarkson Ave.:
Wastewater line work will start in Clarkson Avenue, south of 45th
Street. Clarkson will be closed to traffic from 45th Street south for
about 100LF. This work should not impact traffic on 45th Street
and Clarkson traffic in this area will be detoured.
Once the work in Clarkson is completed, crews will work on the
wastewater line in 45th from Clarkson toward Bennett Ave.,
between 9am and 4pm.
The 45th Street Project is a utility and street reconstruction
project funded by 1998 voter-approved street reconstruction
bonds and by the Austin Water Utility. The $15.3 million project
is scheduled to take 14 months. The contractor is Texas Sterling
Construction, Inc., from Houston.
