At the limited-attendance meeting the Golf Enterprise Fund and the Parks and Recreation Department held at Red River Church a couple months ago attendees asked a lot of questions that Golf and PARD said they would get back to us with answers to. We have received notice that the Division of Recreational Sports at UT has applied for a road closure that would impact some streets in our neighborhood on the morning of Saturday April 14th. Here is the letter and map describing the closure:

A stakeholder meeting concerning the proposed changes to 43rd and Duval that were described in the December Pecan Press will be held on Thurs. Jan. 5th from 7-9 PM. We are scheduled to vote on a resolution in support of the changes on at our general meeting on the 9th. Everyone with an interest in that intersection and the businesses located there is encouraged to attend the stakeholder meeting so that we get as complete a picture of the opinions of neighbors, business owners and property owners on this subject as is possible.
Since many neighbors will have a New Year’s Holiday on the first Monday of January, 2012, our general meeting will be on the second Monday instead.
HPNA is joining with Trinity United Methodist Church in Austin’s Sunday Supper. Let’s all come to the table on Sunday, January 15th to talk about an issue that threatens peace for many people every day: food insecurity. Meet your neighbors, engage in discussion, and discover opportunities to have a part in developing a sustainable community food system. Then, on Monday, January 16th, put words into action by working with neighbors to begin work on the community garden at The Griffin School.

Peace Through Pie. What could be more inclusive or more inviting than pie? Everyone has a favorite recipe, along with a story that involves smiles, and we’ll each get a taste for that warmth and diversity on Sunday evening.
Sunday, January 15 from 5-7:30pm at Trinity UMC (4001 Speedway) Bring a pie of any sort, sweet or savory. Pizza and empanadas are pies too! We’d love it if you’d share your recipe and pie story!
