The City of Austin requires a review by the Landmark Commission prior to the issuance of any building, removal, or demolition permit in a National Register District and for properties listed in the Survey of Cultural Resources. (Interior work and ordinary repair and maintenance are exempted from review.)An Owner planning changes to their property should contact the City of Austin early so that the review will take place in a timely manner. Hyde Park Neighborhood Association
The Hyde Park Neighborhood Association will be notified of all Historic Landmarks Commission reviews as well as property owners within 300' of subject property. Property owners should contact Stan Kozinsky, HPNA Development Review Committee Chairman, at 451-4455 early in the design process and prior to City of Austin review. HPNA can provide information about the National Register District and guidelines for appropriate changes to Hyde Park structures.Neighborhood Conservation Combining District (NCCD)
On April 13, 2000 the City of Austin adopted the Hyde Park Neighborhood Plan. On January 31, 2002 the City of Austin enacted the Hyde Park NCCD (Neighborhood Conservation Combining District - Ordinance 020131-20) that revised the zoning in the area bounded by Guadalupe, 45th, Duval and 38th Streets. Questions referring to the National Register District and the contributing status of any structure should be directed to the Texas Historical Commission at 463-6094.Tax incentives are available for sustantial rehabilitation of some income-producing structures that are over 50 years old. It is essential that the Owner obtain information prior to any planning to determine eligibility and to meet design and documentation requirements. Call the Texas Historical Commission at 463-6094.
