Hyde Park is a vibrant neighborhood in central Austin, located just a short distance north of the University of Texas at Austin. Built in the 1890s as the city’s first streetcar suburb, Hyde Park is known for its historic homes and buildings, majestic trees, restaurants, park, schools, and churches.
Hyde Park originally consisted of the area between 38th and 45th Streets and Guadalupe and Duval Streets. Later, the area from 45th to 51st Streets between Guadalupe and Red River Street became part of the Hyde Park planning area. For a map of the area, see Hyde Park Planning and Zoning.
